Baluk Arts is a Victorian arts organisation based in Mornington representing Aboriginal artists from South Eastern Melbourne. We are non-profit and 100% Aboriginal owned and operated. Baluk Arts was initiated in 2009 and is driven by Aboriginal artists of Frankston, Mornington Peninsula and SE Melbourne.

Baluk Arts encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing, youth leadership, community development and Indigenous governance through innovative arts practice in a contemporary cultural context.

We are building a long-term and sustainable future for Aboriginal artists of Frankston, Mornington Peninsula and South East Melbourne with a unique model of income generation and employment for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Centre. Baluk Arts develops artists’ reputation in the national Arts Industry and provides opportunities for artists to develop, maintain and extend their professional art practice.

Baluk is a local Boon Wurrung word meaning clan or extended family group. Baluk Arts currently benefits hundreds of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people in the SE Melbourne region and is now attracting members as far as Geelong, Tasmania & Wonthaggi.

Baluk Arts is connecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and artists throughout this region through art practice. The current active core group of artists of 25, is comprised of experienced and emerging Aboriginal artists producing a diverse range of visual arts including painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital media, jewellery, wooden artefacts, and ochre works on paper.
