Australia’s Largest Indigenous Art Fair

The only national event of its kind, DAAF has secured a reputation as one of the country’s most significant and internationally recognised arts events, creating a unique opportunity to connect with, and ethically purchase artwork directly from over 70 Indigenous owned Art Centres.

Come and engage with the contemporary creations of the world’s oldest continuous living cultures, 9-11 August 2024.

Each day at the Fair, you can immerse in the vibrant Public Program of traditional dance performances, material demonstrations, workshops, children’s activities, artists talks, and more.

Ethically buy art, 100% of sales go back to the Art Centres.

DAAF is an event with IMPACT! Taking no commission on artworks sold, DAAF Foundation ensures that 100% of all sales made go directly back to support the artists and their communities.

Discover over 1500 artists from over 70 Art Centres!

Showcasing the work of over 1,500 emerging and established artists and designers, the Fair provides a space to meet and learn from the variety of different cultural groups from across Australia.

Coming together from Australia’s most remote desert and coastal regions, to rural and urban communities, a wide range of styles and  mediums are presented and available for purchase.

From paintings on canvas and bark, to works on paper, limited edition prints, sculpture, carvings, and didgeridoos, through to fibre art, textiles, fashion and cultural regalia.

Returning to Larrakia Country at the Darwin Convention Centre, the Fair will also have an online store for those unable to attend in person.

DAAF Opening Ceremony

Each year we invite our participating Art Centres and our amazing DAAF Foundation supporters to join the exclusive Opening Ceremony celebration. You too can purchase a ticket to be part of this special night, gaining an exclusive look at the Fair before it officially opens on the Friday morning!

When: Thursday evening, 8 August 2024.

Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair

Meet with artists and ethically purchase artwork direct from over 70 Indigenous owned Art Centres from Australia’s most remote desert and coastal regions, to rural and urban communities.

DAAF is FREE to attend, and 100% of all sales made go directly back to support the artists and their communities.

We’ll also be returning with DAAF Online for those unable to join us on Larrakia Country.

DAAF Public Program

The vibrant Public Program runs alongside the Fair each year, with artist talks, masterclasses, material demonstrations, children’s activities, cultural dance performances, and more!

Country to Couture Runway

Experience a runway like no other! Country to Couture is where First Nations textiles, fashion and art collide in a colourful showcase of creativity from across Australia. Brought to you by Indigenous Fashion Projects, the runway is proudly supported by the Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company and iconic Australian lifestyle brand Country Road.

National Indigenous Fashion Awards

Attend the prestigious awards ceremony under the stars, celebrating Indigenous excellence and innovation in fashion and textiles.

Recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, designers, Art Centres and creatives across a number of categories, the NIFA is a community event not to be missed!

Brought to you by Indigenous Fashion Projects, the award ceremony is proudly supported by the Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company.

When: Wednesday evening, 7 August 2024.
